‘Mother of the Believers Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that Umm Habibah bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with her) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that she was experiencing istihada (non-menstrual bleeding), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “This blood is from a vein, so perform ghusl and pray.” Then she used to perform ghusl for every prayer. Laith said that Ibn Shihab did not state that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her to perform ghusl for every prayer, rather Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) did so herself.
