Hadith 1764

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Indeed, Allah the Exalted created the creation, and when He finished making them, the tie of kinship stood up and said, "This is the place of one who seeks refuge from being cut off." (That is, by the tongue of its state, or an angel spoke on its behalf, and this is an interpretation; and the apparent meaning is also correct that the tie of kinship itself spoke, and in this realm, there is nothing preventing the tie of kinship from having a tongue.) So Allah the Exalted said, "Yes. Are you not pleased that I will join with the one who joins you, and I will cut off from the one who cuts you off?" The tie of kinship said, "I am pleased with that." So Allah the Exalted said, "Then you have that rank." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: If you wish, recite this verse: Allah the Exalted says to the hypocrites, "If you gain authority, will you spread corruption in the land and sever the ties of kinship? Those are the ones whom Allah has cursed, so He made them deaf and blinded their eyes. Do they not reflect upon the Qur'an, or are there locks upon their hearts?" (Muhammad: 22-24).
