‘Umm al-Mu’minin Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I was lying with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) under a sheet when suddenly I began menstruating. I slipped away and took my menstrual clothes. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Have you started your menses?” I said, “Yes.” He called me, and then I lay with him under the same sheet. The narrator of the hadith (Zaynab) said that Umm al-Mu’minin Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ghusl for janabah from the same vessel.
