Hadith 1718

`Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that` the Messenger of Allah said to me, "O Jarir! Will you not relieve me from Dhu al-Khalasah?" And Dhu al-Khalasah was an idol house of the tribe of Khath'am, which was also called the Yemeni Ka'bah. Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I went there with one hundred and fifty horsemen, and I could not sit firmly on a horse, so I mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He struck his hand on my chest and said, 'O Allah, make him firm and make him one who guides and is guided.' Then Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) went and set Dhu al-Khalasah on fire. After that, a man named Abu Artat was sent to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to give the good news. He came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, 'We have left Dhu al-Khalasah like a mangy camel.' (A mangy camel is smeared with black oil, meaning it too had become blackened by burning.) The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for blessings five times for the horses and men of the tribe of Ahmas.
