Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and he was at that time at Ji'ranah, between Makkah and Madinah, and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him. Then a Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Do you not fulfill your promise to me?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Rejoice." He replied, "You say 'rejoice' a lot." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned in anger towards Sayyiduna Abu Musa and Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said, "He has rejected the glad tidings, but you both accept it." Both said, "O Messenger of Allah! We have accepted." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked for a bowl of water, washed his hands and face in it, put some of his saliva in it, and said to both of them, "Drink from this water, pour it over your faces and chests, and rejoice." Both of them took the bowl and did so. Umm al-Mu'mineen Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) called out to them from behind a curtain, "Leave some water in the vessel for your mother as well." So both of them left some water in the vessel for her.
