Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him): A man from the Ansar had a dispute with Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him), who was the cousin of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) through his paternal aunt, before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding the water at Harrah (Harrah refers to land with black stones), from which they used to water the date-palm trees. The Ansari said, "Let the water flow so that it reaches (my land)." Sayyiduna Zubair refused. Eventually, they both brought their dispute before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Zubair, "O Zubair! Water (your trees) first, then let the water flow to your neighbor." Upon hearing this, the Ansari became angry and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Zubair is your cousin through your aunt (that is why you have favored him)." Upon hearing this, the face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) changed color, and he said, "O Zubair! Water (your trees) and then withhold the water until it reaches the embankments." Sayyiduna Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "By Allah, I think this verse was revealed about this matter: 'But no, by your Lord, they will not (truly) believe until they make you judge in their disputes, then find in themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in (full, willing) submission.'
