Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had a wide mouth (because for men, a wide mouth is considered good and for women, it is considered undesirable), there were reddish streaks in his eyes, and his heels had little flesh. (Shu’bah) asked Samak, “What is ‘Dali’ al-fam’?” He replied, “A large face.” Then (Shu’bah) asked, “What is ‘Ashkal al-‘ayn’?” He replied, “Eyes with long slits (but Samak’s statement here is incorrect, and the correct meaning is that there was redness mixed in the whiteness).” Shu’bah asked, “What is ‘Manhus al-‘aqibayn’?” He replied, “Heels with little flesh.”
