Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): A Jewish woman brought poisoned goat meat to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he ate from it. Then the woman was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he asked her, "What is this that you have done?" She replied, "I wanted to kill you." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Allah will not give you the power (to kill His Prophet)." The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "O Messenger of Allah! Should we not kill her?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "No." (This was due to his mercy upon her, and it also shows that he was a true Prophet; otherwise, if he were a king, he would have ordered her to be killed.) The narrator said: I always noticed the effect of that poison on the uvula of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
