Narrated from Sayyiduna Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah bin Mas'ud that Sayyidah Umm Qais bint Mihsan (who was among the first women of the emigrants and had pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and she was the sister of 'Ukkasha bin Mihsan, who was from Banu Asad bin Khuzaymah) informed me, saying: I brought my child to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who had not yet reached the age of eating food. And due to the illness of 'udrah, she (Umm Qais) had pressed his throat (Yunus said that "a'laqt" means "I pressed." She feared the danger of convulsions in the child). She says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Why do you cause pain to your children by pressing and raising the palate (with a finger or a wooden stick)? You should use Indian aloeswood, that is, "costus." It is a cure for seven diseases, one of which is pleurisy (pain in the side). Ubaydullah said that Umm Qais, may Allah be pleased with her, narrated to me that this same child urinated in the lap of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, so he called for water and sprinkled it on his garment and did not wash it.
