Hadith 143

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that we used to herd camels. When it was my turn, I brought the camels back in the evening to their resting place and saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was standing and giving admonition to the people. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever among the Muslims performs ablution well, then stands and offers two rak‘ahs, focusing his heart and face (i.e., being attentive both outwardly and inwardly, neither letting his heart be distracted by worldly thoughts nor turning his face here and there), Paradise will become obligatory for him. I said, “How excellent is the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (for such a great reward with so little effort)!” At this, someone in front of me said, “The first statement was even better than this.” I looked carefully and saw that it was Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him). He said, “I saw that you have just arrived. (So listen to this as well:) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever among you performs ablution well and completely, then says (translation): ‘I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and Messenger,’ for him the eight gates of Paradise will be opened, and he may enter through whichever gate he wishes.”
