Mukhtasar Muslim

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to prohibit naming with names such as Ya’la, Barakah, Aflah, Yasar, and Nafi’ and similar names. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent and did not say anything. After that, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away and he did not prohibit it. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to prohibit it, but then left it and did not prohibit it.
