`Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that` the name of Umm al-Mu'mineen Juwayriyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) was previously Barrah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) changed her name to Juwayriyyah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked that it be said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left the house of Barrah (the righteous wife).
