Narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him): I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey. He asked, “Do you have water with you?” I said, “Yes, I do.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted from his ride and walked away until he disappeared from sight in the dark night. Then he returned, and I poured water for him from a bucket. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) washed his face. He was wearing a woolen cloak, and it was difficult for him to bring his hands out through the sleeves, so he brought his hands out from underneath and washed them, and wiped over his head. Then, when I bent down to remove his leather socks, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Leave them. I put them on in a state of purity,” and he wiped over both of them.
