'Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says that' dates were brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he began to distribute them, and he was sitting in the manner of one who sits in haste (i.e., squatting), and he was eating from them quickly (perhaps the Prophet, peace be upon him, had some other task to attend to). In another narration, it is mentioned that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting in the position of Iq‘a’ while eating dates.
