Hadith 13

´Sayyiduna Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) says that` I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on a mount, and between me and him there was nothing except the rear wooden part of the saddle. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “O Mu’adh bin Jabal!” I replied, “I am present at your service and obedient to you, O Messenger of Allah!” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) moved on a little, and then said, “O Mu’adh bin Jabal!” I said, “O Messenger of Allah! I am present at your service and obedient to you.” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) moved on a little, and then said, “O Mu’adh bin Jabal!” I said, “O Messenger of Allah! I am present at your service and obedient to you.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Do you know what is Allah’s right upon His slaves?” I said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Allah’s right upon His slaves is that they worship Him alone and do not associate anything with Him.” Then he moved on a little and then said, “O Mu’adh bin Jabal!” I said, “O Messenger of Allah! I am present at your service and obedient to you.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Do you know what right the slaves have upon Allah when they do that?” (i.e., when they worship Him alone and do not associate anything with Him) I said, “Allah and His Messenger know best.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Their right is that Allah will not punish them.”
