Hadith 1290

`Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says that` the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to our house and asked for water. We milked a goat and then mixed water from our well into it and gave it to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He drank it, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting to his left, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was in front, and on the right side was a Bedouin. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had drunk to his fill, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), pointing towards (Sayyiduna Abu Bakr), said, "O Messenger of Allah! This is Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him)." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave (the remainder) to the Bedouin and did not give to Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), and said, "Those on the right are given precedence, those on the right, then those on the right." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "This is Sunnah, Sunnah, Sunnah."
