Sidna Shaddad bin Aws رضي الله عنه says that I have remembered two things from the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم. He صلى الله عليه وسلم said: Allah Almighty has prescribed excellence in everything. So when you kill, kill in the best manner, and when you slaughter, slaughter in the best manner. And it is necessary that whoever among you wants to slaughter should sharpen his knife and give comfort to his animal (and it is preferable that he should not sharpen the knife in front of the animal, nor slaughter one animal in front of another, nor drag the animal before slaughtering it).
