Hadith 1228

Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "The best of your rulers are those whom you love and they love you, and they pray for you and you pray for them. And the worst of your rulers are those whom you hate and they hate you, you curse them and they curse you." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Should we not fight such evil rulers with the sword?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "No, as long as they establish prayer among you. And when you see something from your rulers that you dislike, then dislike their action, but do not withdraw from their obedience (i.e., do not rebel)."
