Hadith 1221

Junadah bin Abi Umayyah says: We went to Sayyiduna ‘Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) during his illness. We said: May Allah grant you health. Narrate to us a hadith from which Allah may benefit us, and which you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called us and we pledged allegiance to him, and among the covenants he took from us was that we pledged allegiance to listen and obey, in pleasure and displeasure, in hardship and ease, and even when our rights are denied, and that we would not dispute the authority of those who are worthy of it, except if you see clear disbelief for which you have proof from Allah.
