It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he spent a night with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). In the latter part of the night, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) got up, went outside, and looked towards the sky. Then he recited this verse which is in Surah Al-Imran: ((Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night...)) up to ((So protect us from the punishment of the Fire)). Then he returned inside, used the miswak, performed ablution, and stood to pray. Then he lay down, then got up, went outside, looked towards the sky, and recited the same verse. Then he returned inside, used the miswak, performed ablution, and again stood to pray.
