‘Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Makkah and there were three hundred and sixty idols placed around the Ka’bah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would poke them with the stick in his hand and kept saying: “Truth has come and falsehood (batil) has vanished, and falsehood is bound to vanish.” (Al-Isra: 81) “And falsehood neither creates anything nor restores anything (rather, both are the works of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He).” Ibn Abi ‘Umar added that “on the day of the conquest (of Makkah), (he did this).”
