Hadith 1146

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you come to a town and stay there, then you have a share in it. And if the people of a town disobey Allah and His Messenger, that is, they fight (against you), then one fifth of the spoils of war is for Allah and His Messenger, and the remaining (four parts) are for you."
