Mukhtasar Muslim

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! A man fights for loot, a man fights for fame, and a man fights to show his status—so which one is fighting in the way of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Whoever fights so that the word of Allah is exalted, he is the one who fights in the way of Allah."
