Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: Whoever keeps a lost item without announcing it is misguided. (From this, it is understood that it is necessary to announce and inform about a lost item.)
