‘Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a tent in which there were about forty men. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Are you pleased that you will be a quarter of the people of Paradise?” We said, “Yes.” Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Are you pleased that you will be a third of the people of Paradise?” We said, “Yes.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise, and that is because only a Muslim will enter Paradise, and the Muslims among the polytheists are like a white hair on the skin of a black ox, or like a black hair on the skin of a red ox.”
