Hadith 2188
‘Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) called us, so we pledged allegiance to him. ‘Ubada (may Allah be pleased with him) says that during the pledge, the Prophet (peace be upon him) took this promise from us: that we would listen and obey his command in both happiness and sorrow, in hardship and ease, even if others are given preference over us without us deserving it (still we would be patient), and that we would not dispute with the rulers regarding authority, except (the Prophet, peace be upon him, says): “When you see open disbelief (disobedience) for which you have a clear proof from Allah.”
