Hadith 1904
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): There was a Jew in Madinah who used to lend me money until my dates were harvested. Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) had a piece of land on the road to Bir Roomah. One year passed in which the land produced few dates, and that year passed. At the time of harvest, the Jew came to me, and I had not yet harvested anything from it (the fruit was very little). I began to ask him for a respite until the next year, but he refused. This news reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said to his companions, "Let us go and intercede with the Jew to grant Jabir a respite." They all came to my orchard. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began to speak to the Jew, but he said, "O Abu al-Qasim! I will not give Jabir any respite." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw that the Jew would not agree, he stood up and walked around the orchard, then spoke to the Jew again, but he was still not satisfied. So I stood up and brought a small amount of fresh dates and placed them before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He ate them and then said, "O Jabir! Where is the hut of your orchard?" I showed him the place. He said, "Prepare a bed for me there." I immediately spread a bed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went there and slept. When he woke up, I brought another handful of dates. He ate them, then stood up and spoke to the Jew, but he still did not agree. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went and stood among the date trees a second time and said, "O Jabir! Cut and give (the dates)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat at the place of cutting. I cut so many dates that the debt was paid off, and an equal amount was left over. I came and gave the good news to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he (happily) said, "I bear witness that I am the true Messenger of Allah."
