Hadith 1879
Narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Barirah’s husband was a slave whose name was Mughith. It is as if I am seeing him (the poor man) walking behind her, weeping, and his tears are falling down his beard. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): “O Abbas! Are you not amazed at Mughith’s love for Barirah and Barirah’s aversion to Mughith?” Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “O Barirah! If you return to him (it would be good).” She said: “O Messenger of Allah! Are you commanding me to do so?” He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “(No)! I am only interceding.” So she (Barirah) replied: “I have no need of him.”
