Hadith 1846
A different narration from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) states that a woman came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, “O Messenger of Allah! I have come to offer myself to you.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at her, then looked at her from head to toe, then lowered his head... Then the previous hadith was narrated in full, and at the end it was said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Can you recite (these surahs) by heart?” He said, “Yes.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Go! I have made you the owner of this woman in exchange for what you know of the Qur’an.” (That is, teaching these surahs will be your dowry.)
