Hadith 1844
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah and Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with them) say: We were in an army (which went to Hunain), when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us and said: You are permitted to do Mut’ah, so do Mut’ah. Ibn Abi Dhi’b narrates that Iyas bin Salamah bin Akwa’ narrated from his father that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “If a man and a woman do Mut’ah and do not specify a period, then (at least) they should stay together for three days and three nights. After that, if they wish, they may separate or extend the period.” Salamah said: “I do not know whether this permission was specific for us or for all people.” Imam Bukhari clarified that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that this ruling was abrogated at the battle of Khaybar.
