Hadith 1775
In the narration of Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), there is this addition: They (the disbelievers) said, "O our Lord! Remove this punishment from us, we will surely believe." (Ad-Dukhan: 12) Then (it was said to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, from Allah), "If We remove this punishment from them, they will return to their (disbelief and polytheism) again." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed (for the famine to be lifted from them), and it was accepted, but they returned to their (disbelief) again. So Allah Almighty took full retribution from them on the day of Badr.
