Hadith 1764
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that after the command of veiling was revealed, Aflaḥ, the brother of Abu Qu‘ays, sought permission to come to me. I said, “I do not give permission until I ask the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), because neither Aflaḥ nor his brother Abu Qu‘ays (who was my foster father) had nursed me, rather it was the wife of Abu Qu‘ays who had nursed me.” When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came, I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Aflaḥ, the brother of Abu Qu‘ays, sought permission to enter upon me, but I did not give him permission without asking you first (what is the ruling?).” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Why did you not give him permission? He is your uncle.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah! That man, Abu Qu‘ays, did not nurse me; it was the wife of Abu Qu‘ays who nursed me.” He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Give him permission, for he is your uncle. May your hand be covered in dust.”
