Hadith 1749
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When Allah issues commands in the heavens, the angels, out of humility for His command, beat their wings, as if a chain is dragged over a smooth stone and it makes a sound. When the fear departs from the hearts of these angels, they say to one another, 'What has your Lord said?' The other replies, 'He has said the truth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great.' The eavesdropping devils also hear these conversations of the angels, and they are piled one above the other (from the earth up to the sky). Sometimes it happens that the angels, having learned of this, throw a flame of fire at them, which burns the listener before he can convey the message to the one below him, and sometimes it happens that the flame does not reach him, and he conveys the message to the one below him (and so on). In this way, the message reaches the earth or comes down to the earth. Then that message is placed on the mouth of a soothsayer, and he mixes a hundred lies with it and relates it to the people. If any part of it turns out to be true, people say, 'Look, this soothsayer told us on such and such a day that such and such would happen, and it happened just as he said; his statement turned out to be true.' And this (truthful part) is the one that was stolen directly from the heavens."
