Sayyiduna Rifa’ah bin Rafi’ Zurqi رضي الله عنه, who participated in the Battle of Badr, says that Jibreel عليه السلام came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and said, “How do you regard the people of Badr among yourselves?” The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم replied, “I consider them the best among all Muslims,” or said something similar. So Jibreel عليه السلام said, “Likewise, the angels who were present at the Battle of Badr (are also the best among all the angels).”

Narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said on the day of the Battle of Badr: "This is Jibreel (Gabriel), holding the reins of his horse and equipped with the weapons of war (has come)."
