Hadith 1596
Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The first to come to us (from Makkah) was Sayyiduna Mus‘ab bin ‘Umair (may Allah be pleased with him). After him came Sayyiduna Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him), who was blind, and both of them used to teach people the Qur’an. Then Sayyiduna Bilal, Sa‘d bin Abi Waqqas, and ‘Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with them) came. Then Sayyiduna ‘Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) came with twenty companions (may Allah be pleased with them) of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself arrived. I have never seen the people of Madinah so happy about anything as they were at the arrival of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), to the extent that even the slave girls were saying, “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has arrived!” And before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had arrived in Madinah, I had already recited (Surah Al-A‘la: 1) “Glorify the Name of your Most High Lord,” and several surahs from the Mufassal.
