Hadith 1545
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that a boy came and sat beside him on one side, saying: "O Allah, grant me a righteous companion." So Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Where have you come from?" He replied: "From Kufa." Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Is there not in your city, or among your people, the person who was aware of such secrets of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that no one else knew except him? That is, Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him)." He said: "Yes, there is." Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Is there not in your city, or among your people, the person whom Allah has granted protection from the evil of Satan through the tongue of His Prophet? That is, Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him)." He said: "He is also there." Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Is there not in your city, or among your people, the person who used to keep the miswak of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), or the pillow (or was aware of secrets, that is, Abdullah bin Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with them both)?" He said: "Yes, there is." Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "How did Abdullah recite this Surah: (By the night as it envelops. And by the day as it appears in brightness)?" How further? I said: "(And by the male and the female)." He said: "The people here (in Sham) are also strange; they kept insisting with me, trying to make me err, by telling me differently from what I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)."
