Hadith 1542
Narrated from Ummul Momineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that when a woman from the tribe of Makhzum committed theft, people said, "Who will intercede with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on her behalf (so that she may not be punished)?" No one had the courage to mention this to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so Syedna Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, among the Children of Israel, when a noble (influential) person committed theft, they would let him go, but if a poor person committed theft, they would cut off his hand. If (in place of this woman) my own daughter Fatimah al-Zahra had committed theft, I would have cut off her hand as well."
