Hadith 1538
´Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhrama رضي الله عنه narrates that` Sayyiduna Ali رضي الله عنه sent a marriage proposal to Abu Jahl’s daughter (Juwayriya). When this news reached Sayyidah Fatimah al-Zahra رضي الله عنها, she came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and said, “Your people say that you do not get angry over the distress caused to your daughters (and this is the result). Now Ali رضي الله عنه is marrying Abu Jahl’s daughter.” So the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم stood up (and delivered a sermon. Miswar says:) I heard that when he صلى الله عليه وسلم delivered the sermon, he said: “To proceed! I married one daughter (Sayyidah Zaynab رضي الله عنها) to Abu al-As ibn al-Rabi’, and he spoke the truth to me. And Fatimah al-Zahra’ (رضي الله عنها) is a part of me (whatever distresses her, I dislike as well). I do not like that she be hurt. By Allah! The daughter of the Messenger of Allah and the daughter of the enemy of Allah cannot be united in marriage to one man.” So Sayyiduna Ali رضي الله عنه broke off that engagement.

Hadith 1539
Narrated by Sayyiduna Miswar bin Makhrama (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) mention his son-in-law from Banu Abd Shams, Abu Al-As bin Al-Rabi' (may Allah be pleased with him), and he praised him, saying that he fulfilled all the rights of being a son-in-law. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whatever he said, he spoke the truth, and whatever promise he made, he fulfilled it."
