Hadith 1520
Jubair bin Mut’im (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that a woman came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed her to go and come back again. She said, “Tell me, if I come and do not find you?”—as if she meant, if you have passed away? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “If you do not find me, then go to Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him).” (That woman had come regarding financial assistance.)

Hadith 1521
Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was sitting with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came, lifting the corner of his garment until his knee became exposed. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Your companion (Abu Bakr) has come after having a quarrel with someone." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) greeted (with salam) and said: O Messenger of Allah! There was some argument between me and Ibn Khattab (Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him), and I hastily spoke harshly to him. Then I regretted it and asked him for forgiveness, but he refused. So I have come to you (so that you may advise him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Abu Bakr! May Allah forgive you." He said this three times. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) felt remorse and came to the house of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked: Is Abu Bakr here? The people (of the house) said: No. So he went to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and greeted (with salam), and the color of the Prophet’s face began to change, until Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) became afraid (that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, might become upset with Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him), so he knelt down and said: O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, it was my fault. He said this twice. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "(O people!) Allah sent me to you as a Prophet, but you denied me, and Abu Bakr affirmed me, and he supported me with his wealth and his life. Will you not, for my sake, leave my companion alone?" He said this twice. After that, no one ever troubled Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) again.

Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "My garment hangs down on one side while walking, and if I take care (and tie it tightly), perhaps it would not hang down." Hadith 1525
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he performed ablution in his house, then went out. Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said to myself that today I will not leave the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) all day; I will stay with him. He says: Then I came to the mosque and inquired about the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). People said that he has gone out in that direction. I also followed in the footsteps of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and kept asking people about him. While walking, I found out that he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had gone to the garden of Aris. I sat near the door, which was made of palm branches, until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished relieving himself and had performed ablution. Then I walked towards him. I saw that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting on the edge of the well of Aris, in the middle of it, with both his shins uncovered and dangling in the well. I greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then I returned and sat near the door. I said (in my heart) that today I will be the doorkeeper of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Meanwhile, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) came and pushed the door. I asked, "Who is it?" He said, "Abu Bakr." I said, "Wait a moment." Then I went and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) seeks permission to enter." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Let him in and give him the glad tidings of Paradise." I came and said to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), "Enter, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has given you the glad tidings of Paradise." So Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) entered and sat on the right side of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the same edge, with both his feet dangling and his shins uncovered, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting. I returned and sat down again, and I had left my brother (Amir) performing ablution at home. I said, "If Allah wills good for so-and-so (i.e., my brother), He will bring him here." Meanwhile (what do I see), someone started shaking the door. I asked, "Who is it?" The reply came, "Umar ibn Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him)." I said, "Wait." Then I went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), greeted him, and said, "Sayyiduna Umar ibn Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) seeks permission to enter." He said, "Let him in and give him the glad tidings of Paradise." So I went and said, "Enter, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has given you the glad tidings of Paradise." So he also entered and sat on the left side of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the same edge, and both his feet were dangling in the well. Then I returned and sat (at the door). I said, "If Allah wills good for so-and-so (Amir), He will bring him here as well." Meanwhile, another man shook the door. I asked, "Who is it?" He replied, "Uthman ibn Affan." I said, "Wait." Then I went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and informed him. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Let him in and give him the glad tidings of Paradise, but he will be afflicted with a calamity." I came and said to him, "Enter, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has given you the glad tidings of Paradise, but after a calamity that will befall you." So he also entered and saw that a part of the edge was filled, so he sat on the other side, facing the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not speak ill of my companions. If any one of you were to spend gold equal to (the mountain of) Uhud (in the way of Allah), it would not equal a mudd or even half a mudd (of grain) given by them."

Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) climbed Mount Uhud, and with him climbed Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman (may Allah be pleased with them). Hadith 1528
´Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says: I was among those who were standing and praying for forgiveness for Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), and his funeral was placed there. Meanwhile, a person put his elbow on my shoulder from behind and said, "(O Umar!) May Allah have mercy on you. I always hoped that Allah would keep you with your two companions (the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him), because I often heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: '(At such and such place) I was, and Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) were (also there); I did this, and Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) did (also); I went, and Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) were (with me).' So I hope that Allah will keep you with them." (Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them, says:) I looked around and saw that the one saying this was Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him).
