Hadith 1467
Narrated Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): We fought in jihad with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and at that time many of the Muhajirun had gathered around him. Among these Muhajirun was a man who was very playful; he struck an Ansari on his buttocks. The Ansari became very angry and called out to his people, saying, "O Ansar! Come quickly (listen to my plea)!" The Muhajir said, "O Muhajirun! Come quickly!" Hearing this commotion, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out of his tent and said, "What is this call of the days of ignorance?" Then he asked, "What is the matter?" The people said, "A Muhajir struck an Ansari on his buttocks." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Leave these filthy matters of ignorance." And Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul (the hypocrite) said, "The Muhajirun are calling their people against us, so when we reach Madinah, surely the honorable will expel the lowly from it." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! Should I not strike the neck of this filthy man?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "No! People will say that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) kills his own companions."
