Hadith 1300
Sayyiduna Salamah bin Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I was going from Madinah towards Ghabah. When I reached the hill of Ghabah, I met a slave of Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him). I said, “Hey! How are you here?” He said that the camels of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) have been seized (I am searching for them). I asked, “Who has seized them?” The slave said, “Ghatafan and Fazarah.” Then I shouted so loudly three times that the whole of Madinah heard me: “Ya Sabahah! Ya Sabahah!” After that, I ran and caught up with the robbers, and they were taking away the camels. So I started shooting arrows at them and kept saying: “I am Salamah bin Akwa’, know this... Today all the wicked will die, accept it...” Thus, I rescued the camels from them before they could drink their milk. Then, as I was driving them back, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) met me. I submitted, “O Messenger of Allah! Those people were thirsty, and before they could drink the milk, I quickly took these camels away. So please send an army in their pursuit.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “O son of Akwa’! You have already overpowered them, now let them go (forgive them). They have reached their people, and there they will be entertained.”
