Hadith 1275
`Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said one day that` today a person came to me and asked me a question. I did not understand what answer to give him. He said, tell me about a person who is heavily armed, perfectly healthy, he goes out in jihads with our leaders, then he gives us such commands in some matters that we cannot carry them out. I said to him, by Allah, I do not understand what answer to give you except that when we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he would command us in every matter only once until we would carry it out, and indeed every one of you will remain on goodness as long as he fears Allah, and when any doubt arises in his heart about something, he should ask someone, and he will satisfy him, and soon you will not find such a person (whose decision brings satisfaction). By the One besides whom there is no deity, as much of the world has passed (and as much remains), I say about it that the world is like a pond whose clear water has been drunk and only the muddy water remains.
