Hadith 1271
´Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that (after the Pledge of Ridwan) when we came again the following year, not even two men among us could agree on identifying the tree under which we had pledged (Ridwan). (There was some mercy from Allah in this.) It was asked: On what matter was the pledge taken from the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all), was it on death? He replied: No, rather the pledge was taken on patience.

Hadith 1273
Narrated Salama bin Al-Akwa’ (may Allah be pleased with him): I gave the pledge of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (at the event of the Pledge of Ridwan). After that, I went towards the shade of a tree. When the crowd of people lessened, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Ibn Akwa’! Will you not give the pledge?” I said, “O Messenger of Allah! I have already given the pledge.” He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Even so (do it again).” So I gave the pledge to him again. It was asked, “Abu Muslim (this is the kunyah of Salama bin Al-Akwa’), on what did you pledge allegiance that day?” He said: “On death.”
