Hadith 1232
Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he went to Thabit bin Qais (may Allah be pleased with him) and he was applying perfume with both his thighs uncovered. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "O uncle! What is preventing you (from the battle)?" He replied, "O son of my brother! I am coming just now." Then he continued applying perfume. Then he came and sat among the (fighters). Then it was told that in this battle the Muslims suffered a slight defeat, so Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the people, "Move aside, give us space, we will fight the disbelievers. We did not do this in battle with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him); rather, we used to stand firm and fight. You have given your enemies a bad habit (by fleeing)."
