Hadith 1224
Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was having me write this verse: "The believers who sit (at home) without any excuse are not equal to those who strive in the way of Allah with their lives and wealth." Meanwhile, Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! If I had the ability, I would certainly participate in jihad," and he was a blind man. Then Allah began to send revelation to His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time, the thigh of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was resting on my thigh, and due to the effect of the revelation, his thigh became so heavy that I feared my thigh would be crushed. After that, when that state was lifted from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Allah revealed: "Except those who are excused." (For example, the blind, the lame, the disabled, etc.)
