Mukhtasar Bukhari

Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Who is the best among all people?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "A believer who strives in the way of Allah with his life and his wealth." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "Who after him?" He (peace be upon him) said: "A believer who lives in a mountain pass, worshipping Allah and keeping people safe from his harm."

Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever fights in the way of Allah, and Allah knows best who fights in His way, his example is like that of a person who fasts continuously during the day and stands in prayer throughout the night. And Allah has taken it upon Himself that whoever fights in His way, if He causes him to die, He will admit him to Paradise (without reckoning), or He will return him safely with reward and spoils of war."
