Hadith 1197
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him):
A man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "Which charity is best?" He (peace be upon him) replied: "That you give charity while you are healthy, desiring wealth, hoping for affluence, and fearing poverty. Do not delay charity until the soul reaches the throat, and then you say, 'Give this much to so-and-so and this much to so-and-so,' while by then it has already become the property of so-and-so (i.e., your heir)."
