Hadith 1180
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a person praised another person in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Woe to you! You have (not just praised, but) cut your companion's neck, you have cut your companion's neck." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said this several times. After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If any of you inevitably wants to praise his brother, then he should say: 'I consider so-and-so to be such-and-such, and Allah is the One Who takes account of his inner state, and I do not declare anyone to be free of faults before Allah, and I consider him to be such-and-such, provided that he knows this to be the case.'"
