Hadith 1099
(Amir al-Mu’minin) Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I received a she-camel as booty on the day of Badr with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave me another she-camel as well. So one day, I made both of those she-camels sit at the door of an Ansari, and I intended to load them with izkhir (a type of grass) so that I could sell it, and at that time, a goldsmith from Banu Qaynuqa’ was also with me, and I wanted to take his help for the wedding feast (walima) of Sayyida Fatimah al-Zahra (may Allah be pleased with her). And (Sayyiduna) Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) was at that time drinking wine inside that house. There was a singing woman with him, and she was singing: “Get up, Hamza! For the fat, fresh, young she-camels.” So he took a sword and turned towards both of those she-camels, and he cut (split) their humps and ripped open their bellies, then took out their livers. (Sayyiduna) Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I saw such a scene that terrified me, then I went to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and at that time (Sayyiduna) Zaid bin Haritha (may Allah be pleased with him) was also with him. So I narrated this news to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he came out. Accordingly, Sayyiduna Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) and I went along with him. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to them and became very angry with them. Then (Hamza), in that state of intoxication, raised his eyes and said, “You people are nothing but the slaves of my forefathers.” Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned back on his heels and left from there, and this incident occurred before the prohibition of wine (and music).
