Hadith 1002
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a battle, and my camel became sluggish and tired, so I lagged behind. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to me and called out: "Jabir!" I replied, "Yes." He asked, "How are you?" I said, "My camel is slow and has become tired, so I have fallen behind." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) dismounted and struck it with his stick. Then he said to me, "Now mount it." So I mounted it, and (the camel became so fast that) indeed I had to restrain it from overtaking the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Have you married?" I replied, "Yes." He asked, "Did you marry a virgin or a previously married woman?" I replied, "A previously married woman." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Why did you not marry a young virgin so that you could play with her and she could play with you?" I replied, "I have some younger sisters, so I wanted to marry a woman who would gather them together, comb their hair, and look after them." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Well, when you reach your wife, enjoy (intimacy with) her thoroughly." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Will you sell your camel?" I replied, "Yes." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) bought the camel from me for one uqiyah (of gold or silver). After that, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reached (Medina) before me, and I arrived in the morning. Then we went to the mosque, and we found the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at the door of the mosque. He said, "Have you just arrived?" I replied, "Yes." He said, "Leave your camel and go into the mosque and pray two rak‘ahs." So I prayed, and then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to weigh out one uqiyah (of gold or silver) for me, and he weighed it out for me generously. As I was about to return home, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Call him to me." I thought to myself, "Now I will get my camel back," though I disliked this very much. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Take your camel and its price as well."
